Industrial nanoparticle research

Are you stuck in the development of a specific product and looking for someone to advise you on nanoparticles? Solids Solutions deals with powder and particle technology and conducts extensive nanoparticle testing and research. The properties of particles have a great effect on the performance of various industrial products. It is therefore important to use the right particles. We help you identify where you are stuck and what you can do to solve the problem.

BET surface analysis of nanoparticles

In certain cases, it is useful to have information about the BET surface of particles. We then perform a BET surface analysis of nanoparticles. This uses an inert gas adsorbed on the surface of a solid. In most cases, nitrogen is most effective, but for substances such as activated carbon and neoliths, a different kind of gas is needed. Often argon or carbon dioxide. If there is a low specific surface area, BET analysis with krypton adsorption is most accurate.

Flow method or volumetric technique

We generally use two techniques to obtain the desired information. The flow method can be used to measure how much gas is adsorbed. From this, a BET surface area and a total pore volume can be determined. When more information is needed, we use the volumetric technique. With this, many adsorption and/or desorption points can be measured. This provides information on BET surface area, pore volume and pore size distribution. The volume of large and small pores can also be distinguished in porous material.
